chef jason rivera
A graduate of the California Culinary Academy, Jason Rivera began his career with McCalls as an intern, working for both the de Young Cafe and in catering. He worked his way up in the kitchen manning every station, to become Sous Chef under Chef Jason Smith previously of Florio. Now at the helm of the de Young Cafe, Jason has made the kitchen his second home - crafting delicious seasonal meals for the myriad guests that attend exhibits in the museum. He draws inspiration from the varied art pieces that come to the de Young and the fresh local produce readily available in the Bay Area.
