The Asian Art Museum celebrated its fabulous premier fundraising event last week and guests were not disappointed. This year’s theme: art + tech. The event opened as guests walked a fuchsia carpet to the Museum. Upon entry, they were greeted with a jaw-dropping floral installation—six pillars of kaleidoscopic flowers—created by McCalls in-house Floral Designer, Miguel Torres. Guests soon indulged in some Tech-quila cocktails, comprised of tequila, lemon juice, grand marinier, ginger and peach syrup, as they watched dynamic wall projections and tried out the 360 photo booth.
The Dining Tent further demonstrated the marriage of art and technology with glass top tables featuring iPad table numbers as well as whimsical, but modern floral arrangements. Overhead, GOT LIGHT fashioned a futuristic light installation using multi-color LED tubes of various and changing colors. Not only were these dangling giants impressive in their own right, but they reflected off the metallic, geometric wall treatment providing even more texture and depth to the overall atmosphere.
Once seated, all 400 guests were greeted with an Amuse Bouche of uni, tamago and silken tofu mousse with micro pak choi sprouts. The meal was bookended by a decadent dessert of chocolate sponge cake and ganache of green tea chocolate gelato bon-bon with olive brittle and a hibiscus raspberry splash. Thereafter, satisfied guests moved back in to the Museum’s Samsung Hall for an after-party of dancing that carried on until after midnight.
